MY LIGHT
by Paul Starkie
My life began as any other birth
As a soul was sent from heaven to earth
A result of love expressed in the physical
And from the spirit displayed as a miracle
What trepidation it was to me
When at first a light I did see
As then through my life I did proceed
But on my own I just could not succeed
As Pharaoh I God’s yearning did spurn
The teachings of Jesus refusing to learn
What a comfort it was to me
When at last the light I did see
I now stand proud and ridicule I can shun
Believing the teachings of God’s only Son
I now know death will merely show his face
As I know Jesus now for me prepares a place
What jubilation ‘twill be for me
When one day Heaven’s light I see
