A Coach’s Prayer

I pray that on practice fields my life I can spend
And one day players realize I was really their friend
I pray that all my players would their greatest potential reach
And it be in some small way because of something I teach
I pray that young minds be inspired to lead their fellow man
And it be because they for the right things saw me take a stand
I pray that their choices would never lead them astray
And I would be a light to guide them along their way
I pray they would in all areas step up and compete
And know I have shown them how adversities to meet
I pray that each of my players have greatness to show
And they display outstanding character wherever they go
I pray that my life and career will always be above reproach
And my character summed up with just one word - COACH
